Acting swiftly on tip off against the former Station House Officer of Police Station Pojewal, SBS Nagar District Police Chief, Alka Meena, has placed the tainted cop Inspector Jagar Singh under suspension with immediate effect besides ordering Departmental Investigation against him.
Divulging details, SP (Investigation) Wazir Singh Khaira said that earlier an FIR against the former SHO, Inspector Jagar Singh and three other accompalices under sections 7 and 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and 482 of IPC at Police Station Pojewal had also been registered.
Briefing the matter, the police official said that as per the information the above said former SHO had helped Pardeep Kumar alias Vicky Bhand resident of Maalewal, Jogesh Kumar alias Kaku of Mangupur through their relative Amarjit Kaur to cover up the crime of fraud and loot in October 2019 during his posting at Pojewal PS in Balachaur Sub Division.
Both accused had snatched the car, containing Gold and cash, fraudulently from Hoshiarpur based Parshotam Lal Bagga on the evening of October 3, 2019. In this regard, a case under section 420 and 379 of IPC was got registered at Police Station Garhshankar on the same day.
Despite of knowing the fact, the Inspector who intercepted the both accused with same car on October 19, 2019 carrying fake registration number PB 32 P 1717, helped them by impounding the car under section 207 of Motor Vehicle Act and arrested the accused Pardeep Kumar under section 110 of CrPC while let off the other accused Jogesh Kumar without taking any action.
He struck the deal amounting to Rs 3.5 lakh with both through a female relative of Pardeep Kumar and got Rs 50000 as first Installment. The car was released on 22.11.19. These accused sold off the Gold to the local Goldsmith of Pojewal, Rakesh Kumar resident of Saroya for Rs 7 lakh and paid the remaining amount to Inspector Jagar Singh in two installments of Rs 2 Lakh and One lakh.
SP Khaira further said that as the former SHO had benefitted the accused instead of discharging his duty, a case under section 7,8 of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 and 482 of IPC at Police Station Pojewal previous day. DSP Balachaur Jatinderjit Singh has been entrusted the investigation of the case to proceed further, he added.
Meanwhile, SSP Alka Meena made it clear that nobody would be spared in case of corruption and dereliction in duty in the district police and stern action would be taken place as in case of Inspector Jagar Singh, against the guilty police personnel.
