36th Surjit Hockey Tournament – CAG Delhi and Punjab & Sindh Bank start with victories

CAG Delhi beat CRPF Delhi by 5-2 and Punjab & Sind Bank Delhi beat BSF Jalandhar by 3-2 to enter next round of Knock out stage of 36th Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium here this evening. Formal Inauguration of the tournament will be done by Sh. Vijay Inder Singla Cabinet Minister of Punjab Govt. on 11th October at 6-00 PM.

In the first match of knock out stage CAG Delhi and CRPF Delhi locked at 1-1 draw at the half time. In the 6th minute of the play CAG Delhi’s Niten Mukesh opened the account with field goal (1-0). In the 9th minute CRPF equalized when their Kuldeep Ekka sounded the board with hard shot (1-1). Second quarter was goal less.

In the third quarter CAG dominated the proceeding. Their 37th minute Manish Yadav, In 40th minute Niten Mukesh and in 45th minute Manikanta scored the goals (4-1). In the 48th minute CRPF reduced the difference with penalty corner conversion by Saroj Ekka (2-4). In the 54th minute CAG’s Chandan Singh complted the tally with penalty corner conversion (5-2).

In the second match first quarter of the match was goalless. In second quarter BSF Jalandhar took lead in the 19th minute when BSF’s captain Navneesh Kumar scored the field goal (1-0).

In 24th minute Gurjeet Singh of BSF sounded the board with penalty corner conversion (2-0). In 27th minute Bank’s Parvinder Singh reduced the margin (1-2).

At half time BSF was leading by 2-1. In the third quarter’s 38th minute Bank equalized when Gurmail Singh convert the penalty corner (2-2). In the fourth quarter’s 48th minute Bank took lead when Gurmail Singh sounded the board from the right flank (3-2).
