3500 people expected to come to Jalandhar from other parts of country, 2000 NRIs may go

The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal today reviewed the arrangements for those people who were willing to move from district and for those were coming to district after being stuck at other states.

Chairing a high level meeting here at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police said that around 3500 people who have stranded in various parts of the country were expected to reach Jalandhar in coming days.

However, they said that as per directions of the state government they have to be quarantined even in case of asymptomatic conditions. They said that for this purpose the National Institute of Technology in the city has been declared as quarantine centre by the district administration.

The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police said that Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh would be nodal officer for the movement of these people whereas Additional Chief Administrator Jalandhar Development Authority (JDA) Ms. Navneet Kaur Bal would be the incharge of quarantine centre to be set up at the NIT.

They said that if the person coming to Jalandhar would be asymptomatic then he would be send to NIT but if he/ she was symptomatic then they would be sent to the Hospital. The officers said that the Police officers would hold the fort to make elaborate security arrangements that no one was able to sneak before completing the quarantine period.

The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police further said the Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinder Chawla would make foolproof arrangements for the medical check up of all the people coming to the district from outside. Likewise, they said that there were around 2000 NRIs, who were stranded in the district, and we were desirous of moving back to their countries.

The officers said that for this purpose Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) Mr. Randeep Singh Gill would be the nodal officer for all those people desirous of moving out of the district.

The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and Senior Superintendent of Police further said that all the NRIs coming to the district would be screened at Meritorious School. They said that if NRI was found asymptomatic then they would be quarantined and would be sent to hospital if was found symptomatic.

The officers said that throat Swab test of NRIs would be held at Meritorious School and then shifted at the Hotel chosen by them as quarantine centre.

On the occasion Chief Executive Officer Smart City Ms. Shena Aggarwal, Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr. Vishesh Sarangal and Mr. Jasbir Singh, Deputy Director Local Government Ms. Anupam Kler, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Amit Kumar, Mr. Rahul Sindhu and Mr. Vineet Kumar, Additional Chief Administrator JDA Ms. Navneet Kaur Bal, Assistant Commissioners Mr. Varjeet Walia and Mr. Randeep Singh Gill, Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinder Chawla and Medical Superintendent Dr. Harinder Singh, Senior Medical Officer Dr. Raman Sharma and others were also present.
