21,192 Cases Disposed Off in National Lok Adalat Held at SAS Nagar

As per schedule of National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi and under the guidance of Mr. Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar and Mr. Justice Mahabir Singh Sindhu, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Administrative Judge, Sessions Division, SAS Nagar, National Lok Adalat was organized, today, under the leadership of Sh. Atul Kasana, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar.

In this Lok Adalat, a total of 23469 pre-litigative and pending Criminal Compoundable Offences, NI Act cases under Section-138, Bank Recovery Cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour disputes, Land Acquisition cases, Electricity and Water Bills (Excluding non-compoundable theft cases), Service matters relating to pay and allowances and Retiral benefits, Revenue Cases and other Civil Cases (Rent, Easmentary Rights, injunction Suits, specific performance suits) were taken up.

In this National Lok Adalat, 17 benches were constituted at District Headquarter which were being presided over by Sh. Hardip Singh, Additional District & Sessions Judge; Ms. Neetika Verma, Additional District & Sessions Judge; Sh. Jarnail Singh, Principal Judge, Family Court; Sh. Harsimranjit Singh, Additional District & Sessions Judge; Sh. Amanpreet Singh, Addl.

Principal Judge, Family Court; Sh. Rajesh Ahluwalia, Additional District & Sessions Judge; Sh. Anish Goyal, Civil Judge (Sr. Divn.); Ms. Megha Dhaliwal, Chief Judicial Magistrate; Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Additional Civil Judge (Sr. Divn.); Sh. Abhay Rajan Shukla, Civil Judge (Jr. Division); Sh. Kirandeep Singh, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Sh. Sangam Kaushal, Civil Judge (Jr. Division); Ms. Gurleen Kaur, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Ms. Kamal Varinder, Presiding Officer, Industrial Tribunal; Ms. Gurmeet Kaur, Chairperson, Permanent Lok Adalat (PUS); Tehsildar, SAS Nagar and Naib Tehsildar, Banur.

Besides this, 6 benches at Sub-Division, Kharar of Ms. Shweta Dass, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Sh. Gurmehtab Singh, Civil Judge (Sr. Divn.); Sh. Tanveer Singh Madhav, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Ms. Chahat Chhabra, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Naib Tehsildar Kharar and Naib Tehsildar, Majri and 7 benches at Sub-Division, Derabassi of Ms. Navreet Kaur, Civil Judge (Sr. Divn.); Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Ms. Parneet Kaur, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Ms. Jasmine, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Ms. Dauphin Ghotra, Civil Judge (Jr. Divn.); Sh. Amit Gupta, SDM and Tehsildar Dera Bassi had been constituted for National Lok Adalat.

For the successful organization of this National Lok Adalat, Sh. Atul Kasana, Ld. District & Sessions Judge had called various meetings of judicial officers, officers of other Departments i.e. Banks, Electricity Department, Labour Department, Insurance Companies etc. to sensitize them about the National Lok Adalat.

They were also motivated and instructed to identify maximum number of cases which could be taken up in the National Lok Adalat and to make maximum efforts for disposal of the same in the Pre-Lok Adalats and National Lok Adalat.

Ms. Surabhi Prashar, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar informed that in this National Lok Adalat, 23469 cases were taken up out of which 21192 cases were disposed of by virtue of compromise and awards of an amount of Rs.2,01,61,61,712/- were passed by the different Lok Adalat benches.
