186 teams inoculated 36,300 people during Mega Vaccination Camp in Patiala: DC Kumar Amit

During the ongoing vaccination campaign against the Covid panemic, a large number of people responded to the mega camps set up at 186 different places in the district today. According to the details received, although the target for these vaccination camps was set at 32,000 today, 36,300 people had been vaccinated by evening with the overwhelming response of the residents.

Deputy Commissioner Mr Kumar Amit while divulging the above information, said, the camps organized by the Health Department in collaboration with the district administration, other departments and NGOs and Panchayats.

Mr Kumar Amit also exhorted the people of the district that in order to prevent themselves from the apprehensions of the next wave of Covid-19, they should come forward to get them vaccinated to win the battle waged against Covid under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

Deputy Commissioner said that district has surpassed today’s target of vaccination set at 32000 through 186 mega camps in the district. He said that in response to these camps, people voluntarily reached in large numbers and got vaccinated.

He said that during the second wave of Covid the majority of patients were identified in the villages and hence the cooperation of the Panchayats was needed to achieve the goal of vaccinating the entire rural population in the district.

Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Mrs Pooja Sayal Grewal reviewed the vaccination camps at various places in Patiala city, schools, Radha Swami Satsang Ghar, Thapar College etc. Accompanied by Assistant Commissioner (Under Trainee) Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, District Covid Immunization Nodal Officer Dr. Preneet Kaur, District Education Officer (S) Harinder Kaur, District Education Officer (B) Amarjit Singh, she expressed satisfaction over the success of the vaccination campaign.

Civil Surgeon Dr Prince Sodhi said that the cooperation being extended by the religious bodies and Panchayats in the district is commendable and he said that such more mega outreach camps would be launched in the coming days too to prevent the Covid pandemic in the district.

Dr Prince Sodhi said that a large number of people have been vaccinated in Nabha, Rajpura, Samana, Harpalpur, Kalomajra, Kauli, Bhadson, Dudhan Sadhan, Shutrana, Model Town and Tripuri areas. He was accompanied by District Immunization Officer Dr Venu Goyal.

District Covid Immunization Nodal Officer Dr Preneet Kaur added that besides the district administration, the staff of the health department including religious places and social service organizations also gave their full support to make these mega camps a success, which led to the achievement of the goal of door-to-door vaccination campaign.

Dr Preneet Kaur said that Sarpanches and other dignitaries in the villages of the district were playing a leading role in the vaccination drive.

Meanwhile, Anju Bala, woman sarpanch of Bhattlan village, said that in the mega camp set up in her village today, 108 persons, majority of women have been vaccinated. Sarpanch Anju said that the target of vaccinating the entire immunizable population of village Bhattlan against Covid would be achieved soon.
