The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), Rohtak, has arrested an alleged intermediary while accepting a bribe of ₹8,000 in Kharkhoda, Sonipat district, and subsequently arrested a police sub-inspector in connection with the case.
The intermediary, identified as Rakesh, a resident of Kharkhoda, was caught red-handed during a trap laid by the bureau in the presence of independent witnesses. Sub-Inspector Hariprakash, posted at Kharkhoda police station, was also arrested over allegations that he had sought the bribe through Rakesh.
According to the complaint, a woman had lodged a molestation-related complaint against the complainant’s brother at Kharkhoda police station. The complainant alleged that Hariprakash initially demanded ₹20,000 for facilitating a compromise in the matter and for protecting his brother from being implicated in a false case. The amount was subsequently settled at ₹8,000.
Unwilling to pay the alleged bribe, the complainant approached the SV&ACB, following which a case was registered as FIR No. 25 dated August 20, 2026, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at the SV&ACB police station, Rohtak.
The bureau constituted a trap team and caught Rakesh while allegedly accepting the ₹8,000 in Kharkhoda. The investigation subsequently led to the arrest of Sub-Inspector Hariprakash.
The bureau said the operation was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses and that further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.
