The NRI police station booked the father, brother and uncle of an NRI woman from the UK in connection with fraud on Wednesday.

The NRI woman, Irandeep Kaur, alleged that the accused duped her for Rs 20 lakh on pretext of buying a plot to her. The accused, her father Kuldeep Singh, brother Mandeep Singh of Gyan Singh Rarey Wala Market, Link Road, and uncle Rajinder Singh Gujral of Urban Estate, Dugri, were booked under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC.

In her complaint, Irandeep said she had sent Rs 20 lakh to her father, brother and uncle to purchase a plot in Kharar.

However, they did not buy any plot, and handed over two cheques - Rs 4.80 lakh and Rs 15 lakh - to her on April 15, but the cheques allegedly bounced. NRI police station SHO Gopal Kishan said an inquiry into the matter was started by ACP (traffic) Dhruman Nimbale following the registering of the case.
