‘While a reasonable degree of peace and stability had been achieved by combined and coordinated efforts of various stake holders of peace in the Kashmir valley, there were still some inimical forces who had identified Jammu and Kashmir for their ulterior designs, resulting in a period of turbulence of more than two decades’.
This was stated by Lt Gen K T Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, Northern Army Commander while delivering his Keynote Address on the first day of a two-day seminar on “ENHANCING JAMMU AND KASHMIR’S PRIDE”, organised by Chinar Corps at Badami Bagh Cantonment.
A release issued by Army here said that the Northern Army Commander highlighted the distinctive, extraordinary and rich cultural ethos of Jammu and Kashmir with special reference of Kashmir valley which has a unique way of life called “Kashmiriyat”.
The Army Commander underlined the inimitable art form, music, dance,dresses and secular culture which is unique in many ways and needs to be protected under all circumstances.
Speakers from all walks of life shared their views during the Seminar on a topic which is close to the hearts of millions of the countrymen, especially the Security Forces deployed and entrusted with challenging role in Jammu and Kashmir.
The seminar proved to be a unique forum for a large number of civil dignitaries, officers of the Security Forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir and students from various colleges and Universities of the valley, to share and receive thoughts from eminent speakers of national and international repute.
Eminent speakers from all over the country including Dr Suba Chandran (Director, IPCS, New Delhi), Maj Gen (Retd) Raj Mehta,Mr Siddiq Wahid, Ex Vice Chancellor of IUST, Ms Madhu Kishwar (Editor Manushi & Director of NGO), Mr Mushtaq Ahmed, Chairman J&K Bank, Dr SS Bloeria, Vice Chancellor Jammu Central University, Mr Nitin Pai,Editor of Pragati and Mr SM Sahai, IPS, IGP Kashmir, shared their views during the Seminar.
The speakers covered wide range of topics like “Role of People’s Pride and Dignity in Nation Building”,“Kashmiriyat as a sense of Pride of Kashmiri Awam”, “Economic Vibrance, Socio Cultural harmony and creativity as tools for Jammu and Kashmir’s progress to Peace”.
A variety of queries from the audience were also addressed by the Guest Speakers to their full satisfaction and all of them,especially the young students, were fascinated and enthralled by the educative information received by them during the course of the Seminar.
The seminar, an effort by Chinar Corps, is aimed to get an overall opinion from various speakers and the august gathering about some of the crucial issues which impinge on the pride of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The seminar will continue on 28 Apr 12 and it is expected to generate even greater interest.
