Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP’s) human rights cell today started signature campaign at sector 17 Chandigarh demanding arrest of Haryana’s former minister Gopal Kanda.

Besides the party workers and other people, large number of young women participated in this signature campaign demanding arrest of Gopal Kanda who drew Geetika Sharma to commit suicide.

Speaking at the occasion BJP human rights cell’s national in-charge and Rajya Sabha member Avinash Rai Khanna said it was unfortunate that a young girl lost her precious life due to a Congress leader and instead of punishing such person, the Congress is supporting him. “If Kanda is not arrested soon, BJP will intensify its agitation and pressurize Congress government to arrest the accused,” he added.

Cell’s national convener Sudhir Aggarwal demanded that the matter be investigated from Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Geetika’s suicide is a proof how badly she would have been troubled and driven to take her life.

Prominent among others participating in the campaign included BJP state media in-charge Vineet Joshi, Punjab cell’s convener Gurtej Singh Dhillon, Haryana’s cell convener RP Malhotra, Chandigarh’s convener Pankaj Gupta, from Punjab BJP’s assistant cell convener Khushwant Singh Giga, BJP BC Cell’s state convener Bobby Kamboj, Chandigarh municipal corporation’s councilor Saurabh Joshi and Kansal’s councilor Sham Lal Gujjar.
